QUALIFICATIONS: 1. A registered nurse (R.N.) currently licensed to
Practice in the State of Connecticut as a Certified
Nurse Midwife/ Mid Level
2. Completion of a Nurse Clinician/Practitioner training program and internship recognized and accepted by StayWell Health Center preferably related to reproductive health care.
3. B.S. degree in Nursing/related field plus two plus years experience in OB/GYN nursing.
4. Encouraged: NAACOG certification as an! ambulatory OB/GYN Nurse Clinician
professional NSG certif! ication.
GENERAL STATEMENTS:
With the collaboration of the Medical Director and adhering to the medical procedures and protocols of StayWell Health Center, the Nurse Midwife shall function in an expanded role in the area of ambulatory OB/GYN nursing. With appropriate medical supervision, she will assume a comprehensive and responsible function in primary OB/GYN or reproductive health care of women from puberty throughout the life cycle.
The Nurse Practitioner upholds the philosophy and mission of StayWell Health Center. All staff and volunteers maintain absolute patient confidentiality.
Nurse Practitioner â€" Level II (continued)
RESPONSIBILITIES: Clinical
1. Conducts a complete patient interview
2. Obtains a complete health history
3. Secures appropriate laboratory screenings to include blood drawing
4a. Performs physical examination including:
Thyroid
Heart and lung asculatation
Breast
Abdomen
Pelvi! c â€" Papanicolaou smear, GC, other microscopic exams as
Indicated
Extremities
Rectal/Vaginal
Others: As specified by medical policy of Staywell
QUALIFICATIONS
At least three years practice experience preferably in an urban setting
Serving minority population groups.
Eligibility for hospital privileges and state license.
Commitment to providing high quality health services to indigent and/or
Uninsured families essential.
Spanish speaking desirable.
REPORTS TO: Medical Director
