Clinical Documentation Specialist (RN required)

Description: Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center is in need of Clinical Documentation Specialist (RN required) right now, this position will be placed in Connecticut. The Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS) reports to the Director of Health Information Management (HIM) and is responsi! ble for improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation. The CDS facilitates modifications to clinical documentation through extensive concurrent interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other patient caregivers, and HIM coding staff to support that appropriate reimbursement and clinical severity is captured for the level of service rendered to all patients without regard to payer type. The CDS supports timely, accurate and complete documentation of clinical information which may also be used for measuring and reporting physician and hospital outcomes. The CDS also works closely with HIM coding staff to educate all members of the patient care team on an ongoing basis.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Masters preferred.
Experience: Five years of diversified, progressive experience in acute care and/or other settings within the continuum. Discharge planning, utilization management, home care experience ! beneficial. Clinical Documentation experience preferred. Must ! be able to relate well to physicians and other clinical staff and be comfortable presenting to large and small groups.
Licensure: Current Registered Nurse - State of Connecticut
