We are looking for a special individual to help our family in a variety of ways. This is a unique job posting in that our 3-year-old son has a full-time nurse caring for him but because of a strange i! nsurance rule, we are not allowed to leave the nurse alone to care for him when we go to work. There needs to be another individual in the house, and this is where you come in.
Our son was diagnosed with a rare disease called metachromatic leukodystrophy in April 2013 and his nurse will manage the vast majority of his needs, including all of his medicines, his food (he is fed through a G-tube) and his diaper changes, etc. Between the two of you, you'll switch who cuddles him in a cozy rocking chair. A typical day involves holding him and rocking him, reading lots of books, singing songs, watching cartoons and engaging him with toys. We would also like you and the nurse to take him outside in his wagon for fresh air and take him for strolls around the block. If you don't enjoy a quiet, laid back job you probably wouldn't be a good match.
Because of his disease, and several of the medications he's on, he sleeps a lot, so there will be a few hours of down tim! e each day. We are looking for someone that doesn't mind a lit! tle housework, such as sweeping, dishes and laundry so that when my husband and I get home from school we can spend every precious minute loving and holding our son and not have to worry too much about chores. We keep a very clean house, so this part of the job will be extra easy. Basically we are looking for someone to stay with the nurse and help her when needed, hold our son, read to him, chit chat with him and bring him outside. When he sleeps we'd like you to help with some housework and maybe run errands.(we'll reimburse for gas)
The job begins August 15th, the hours are 7:45-3:30 p.m. and pays $350/week or $70/day if you prefer part time. We live in southern New Milford. He does go to preschool 12-3:30 on Mon and Thurs with his nurse, if he is feeling well enough to go. On days he goes to school the hours you will be needed would be 7:45-12:00.
