The Registered Nurse (RN), Level 2 is a competent nurse who has been practicing a minimum of 2 years in the same clinical setting. In this role, the RN is able to pr ovide clinically appropriate care following established protocols for an assigned group of patients. The RN is beginning to recognize long range goals and more readily recognizes patterns of clinical information. The RN can manage some degree of uncertainty but may still need assistance with complex, vulnerable patients and situations. Based on these skills the RN is able to form a plan of care using the nursing process which helps to increase efficiency and organization. The RN is able to identify opportunities for continued professional development that correspond with career goals. May choose to remain at this level or seek advancement.
Full access to medications is given to the incumbent of this position because they are required by their job responsibilities to handle, prepare, or administer medications.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. BS in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
Experienc e: Must have at least 2 years of specialized Emergency Department RN experience
Ability to practice according to this definition: The process of diagnosing human responses to actual or potential health problems, providing supportive and restorative care, health counseling and teaching, case finding and referral, collaborating in the implementation of the total health care regimen, and executing the medical regimen under the direction of a licensed physician, dentist or advanced practice registered nurse.
Licensure: Current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in CT
Certification: BLS certification required. Additional certifications may be required for certain departments. National certification in area of specialty preferred.
Skills: Familiarity with computer-based applications (E-MAR, clinical documentation), e-mail, and standard applications such as Microsoft Office. Demonstrated teamwork and communicatio n (written and verbal) skills; demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
