Nurse Manager - Cardiac ICU

Location: Hartford Connecticut

We are searching for an innovative Nurse Manager for our 20 bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, serving our rapidly expanding Cardiology/CV surgery program. This unit offers critical care nurses th! e opportunity to work with an outstanding team of highly qualified caregivers, cardiologists, and cardio-thoracic surgeons with a clear focus on needs of cardiac patients. State of the art technologies include induced hypothermia, intra-aortic balloon pump, ventricular assist device, CRRT, and order set/ protocol driven evidence based practice.

Complex Care Rounds are led by a CV Surgeon and are held weekly with representatives from all disciplines involved in CICU patient care. We have once a month "CICU Ask the Surgeon" open dialogue sessions. Our "shared governance" model continues to evolve with strategies to provide positive outcomes for staff and patients.

In this dynamic role, you will be responsible and accountable for providing clinical and administrative leadership. The Nurse Manager obtains and allocates available resources to assure efficient, effective, and safe patient care, based on current standards of practice. The Nurse Manager is account! able for facilitating a collegial relationship between nurses,! physicians, and other healthcare providers and for promoting service delivery which results in patient and family satisfaction. The Nurse Manager collaborates with other members of nursing leadership to create an environment that promotes excellence in clinical practice. This includes contributing to the development of nursing goals; procedures and standards of care; and opportunities for professional growth and development.

Education: M.S. in Nursing or related field strongly preferred. At a minimum, candidate must be enrolled in a Master's program.

Experience: Five years of progressive nursing experience in an acute care environment, with progressive leadership opportunities.

Licensure: Current Connecticut Registered Nurse license

Certification: Nursing Administration and/or clinical specialty certification preferred.
