Surgical ICU - Bliss 7 ICU/Step-down
Full Time: 40 hours
Weekend! /Off Shift/Holiday rotation required. (Premium differentials offered.)
Will consider candidates for permanent nights.
B7I i s a 12-bed Surgical ICU and 3 Bed Stepdown Unit that cares for multiple surgical patient populations including: general surgery, trauma, vascular, thoracic, liver transplants and other critical care patients as service needs dictate. These patients may require multiple technologies or advanced life support including: hemodynamic monitoring, Mechanical ventilation, Continuous veno-venous hemofiltration (CVVH), Nitric Oxide (NO), and multiple vasoactive drug therapies. The AP provider responsibilities include several invasive bedside procedures, for which training will be provided during orientation for candidates that do not have this skill set.
The B7I team is committed to creating an innovative patient centered delivery system that continuously improves quality care. The Advanced Practice providers are part of a multidiscipl! inary team that plans and delivers care for this complex popul! ation under the direction of the attending intensivist, in collaboration with the surgeons/attendings of the primary teams, Critical Care Fellows, and other consultants.
Requirements: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program. Current CT PA/APRN license. Federal DEA, and CT Controlled Substance Registration. Critical Care/Stepdown and Surgical experience preferred. ACLS preferred. Demonstrated ability to positively interact with medical/nursing staff and other members of multidisciplinary team. Willingness to learn and demonstrate proficiency in invasive procedures.
Position Summary: Provides direct clinical management of Critically ill Surgical and other critical care patients across the service continuum (ICU/SDU). Collaborative model of care with Attending physician, Intensivist, Critical Care Fellow and other members of HCT. Includes coverage of other surgical critical care units as service needs dictate.!
