• Director, Infection Control

St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Hartford, CT Full-time*

• The Director, Infection Control* coordinates the Infection Control Program so as to minimize the acquisition and spread of infection in patients and personnel. This position is a leader, consultant and resource person for departments and hospital personnel in matters of infection control. Responsibilities include investigating outbreaks and implements change, informing appropriate hospital personnel about federal and state regulations concerning reportable disease and infection control, and educating concerning matters of infection control and infection. The Director is an integral member of the Quality and Patient Safety Committee and leads initiatives as identified, as well as oversees a team of infection control specialists to support surveillance and education activities in the patient care areas. This position supports Infection Control committees and represents the organization in state hospital association activities around Infection Control. May require working at either campus or alternate sites. Services are provided for patients of all ages.

A Master's degree is required; RN/BSN preferred. Medical Technology, Microbiology or related field will also be considered. Experience in a similar leadership role in Infection Control is also required. A minimum of 7-10 years experience in nursing, clinical laboratory or epidemiology is necessary. If RN, a Connecticut Registered Nurses License is required. Certification in Infection Control desired. The ideal candidate will evidence experience in interdisciplinary problem solving and process improvement, have excellent leadership and communication skills, and have knowledge of national infection control reporting systems.
