Description: Yale University is at present recruited Clinical Research Nurse 1 right now, this position will be placed in Connecticut. Conducts clinical research on study and hospital subjects by providing nursing services to patients and families in compliance with University, State and, Federal guidelines. Develops, designs, and implements procedures and quality assurance standards for research studies. Departmental Focus: Significant professional discretion, judgment and autonomy. Perform as a functional team member of clinical researchers reporting to the Clinical Director of the IBD Program. Coordinate functions of study including protocol development, regulatory management, informational training and orientation; protocol implementation and follow-up; data collection, reporting and analysis; perform outreach to the surrounding community to enhance IBD research and clinical care at Yale University. Perform nursing duties that are necessary in order to provide optimal clinical research care; work with business office to collect information and prepare financial reports on clinical research activities. Principal Responsibilities 1. Identifies, assesses eligibility, enrolls, and collects accurate medical and demographic history on research subjects for a variety of studies; obtains and explains written consent for subject participation. 2. Provides direct clinical services to subjects; observes subjects and notifies clinicians to any medical/emotional change. 3. Contributes to protocol development, submission, and renewal by collecting written materials and writing procedural documents; ensures ongoing compliance with institutional review board (IRB) policies by monitoring changes in IRB policies related to human specimens and informing the research team of such changes. 4. Conducts patient and research subject evaluations; administers medications and research instruments, and presents data. 5. Reviews, codes and contributes in the entering of all collected patient data to assure completeness and accuracy. 6. Ensures regulatory compliance by maintaining clinical and nursing records to meet the needs of various protocols. 7. Maintains the integrity of the clinical research study by striving to advocate for patients. 8. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing and three years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Skill/Ability 1: Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple activities among multi-disciplinary clinical and research personnel as well as ability to work with patients and investigators outside of Yale, including the ability to travel by car to surrounding areas. Required Skill/Ability 2: Thorough working knowledge of protocol development and use within clinical trials. Required Skill/Ability 3: Demonstrated effective written, verbal and training communication skills; strong computer skills with experience with Access, Excel and Word. Required Skill/Ability 4: Professional interactive ability to work as an effective team member sharing mission and goals of exceptional clinical research as well as superb organization ability to sustain a robust level of clinical research activity with professional judgment, independence and accountability. Required Skill/Ability 5: Ability to work occasional evenings and weekend hours. Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: Master's Degree in Nursing and five years' clinical research experience. Required Licenses or Certifications Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut or Connecticut license eligible. Preferred Licenses or Certifications: CT RN licensure and graduation from an accredited nursing school. Weekend Hours Required? Occasional Evening Hours Required?
