Inpatient Coordinator

Location: Trumbull Connecticut

Description: UnitedHealth Group is at present recruited Inpatient Coordinator right now, this position will be placed in Connecticut. Further informations about this position opportunity kindly read the description below. Position Description:
You will be responsible for the management of the census data for accurate day bed reporting. You will be working cases that deal with inpatient stays at ! Acute Hospitals and patient care facilities. You will be working cases from a work queues. On average you will be working 135 cases a day. Some of this will require different levels of involvement; some cases will require less work than others. You will first look at the case and determine if the case should be turned over to a nurse, based on diagnosis. If the case is not passed to a skilled nurse, then you will be responsible for working the case all the way thru discharge of the candidate. This is not a call center environment, but you are responsible for attendance and making sure your cases are processed and completed in a timely manner. You will receive on the job training and have a team lead that can assist you with any questions you may have during the ramp up period. The current team consists of 22 Inpatient Coordinators and one team lead. Dress is business casual M- TH and casual on Friday.

Positions in this function includes those responsible for initia! l triage of members, administrative intake of members or manag! ing the admission/discharge information post-notification, working with hospitals and the clinical team. Includes managing incoming calls, managing requests for services from providers/members, providing information on available network services and transferring members as appropriate to clinical staff. Manages the referrals process, processes incoming and outgoing referrals, and prior authorizations. This function includes intake, notification and census roles.

Primary Responsibilities:
Moderate work experience within own function.

Some work is completed without established procedures.

Basic tasks are completed without review by others.

Supervision/guidance is required for higher level tasks.

Requirements

Requirements:
HS Diploma/GED

2+ years Healthcare experience

2+ years professional experience in an office setting using the telephone and computer as the primary instruments to p! erform the job duties .

2+ years professional experience in clerical or administrator work .

2+ years of experience with MS Office (Word and Outlook)

Assets

MS Excel

Experience with insurance benefits

Medical Terminology/Coding (ICD-9 and CPT)

Hospital, physician, or medical clinical

Medicare and/or Medicaid
